The John’s Island Community Service League is a non-profit, member driven organization primarily involved in raising funds for operating expenses of charitable agencies in Indian River County concerned with the health, education, and human services issues that affect women, children and families in need. Only organizations that do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion or ethnicity will be considered. Scholarship support for post-secondary education is also provided to John’s Island Employees and their children.
Last summer JICSL helped create and fund HEART (Housing Emergency Advocacy Response Team) to provide legal assistance to Indian River County (IRC) residents who had trouble making payments due to the pandemic.
The attached articles report on a new eviction mediation program HEART helped to organize, which recently received $2 million of CARES Act money from the Indian River County Commissioners for settlement assistance.
